Allen Iverson is officially mansionless -- TMZ has learned the former NBA star's Atlanta home has been sold off in a foreclosure auction.

TMZ broke the story ... Iverson allegedly defaulted on a $1.2 million mortgage which sent the $4.5 million home into foreclosure. He briefly fought off an auction ... but ultimately, he couldn't stop it.

Sources close to the sale tell TMZ ... Iverson's bank purchased the mansion yesterday for $2.5 million.

It's been a rough week for Iverson -- on top of losing his mansion, the judge in Iverson's divorce case basically just called him the worst dad in the universe.

NBA News 2013: Agent for Hawks' Smith speaks with Ferry

Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks {| class="...

Josh Smith's agent spoke with Hawks general manager Danny Ferry on Wednesday to discuss what he characterized as "a lot of frustration" with the team's recent spiral, but stopped short of making a trade request.

"As far as moving forward and whatever changes will be made, that's more so management's job to field those calls and make the decisions they feel like are best to move forward," Smith's agent, Wallace Prather, told CBSSports.com.

While Prather made it clear that Smith is concerned about how the once-hot Hawks have rolled over in losing six of their last seven games and seven out of nine, neither he nor his client has asked for a trade. Smith will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and barring an unlikely departure from Los Angeles for Dwight Howard or Chris Paul, would be among the top players on the unrestricted market.

"I do know there are teams interested," Prather said.

Multiple rival executives confirmed that the Hawks have participated in trade conversations with several teams regarding Smith, a 27-year-old game-changing defender when engaged.

The Hawks hit rock bottom in their recent swoon Monday night with an embarrassing 97-58 loss to the Bulls in which they managed to score only five points in the second quarter. Afterward, coach Larry Drew promised changes, and said, "It's time that we do shake things up."

Drew may have unwittingly inferred that the changes could involve more than a tweak to the starting lineup or rotation.

The Hawks face a dilemma with Smith, whose love-hate relationship with playing his entire NBA career thus far in his hometown of Atlanta will be put to the ultimate test if the Hawks continue to struggle. Smith's $13.2 million falls off the Hawks' books after the season, into an already massive abyss of cap space that the team has cleared to revamp the roster after trading high-priced All-Star Joe Johnson to the Nets.

Teams with such room and flexibility -- including the likes of the Cavaliers, Mavericks, Bucks and Jazz -- are beginning to examine the potential free-agent options and reconsider their strategies. Unless Ferry were able to land either Paul or Howard this summer -- a long shot in both cases, even though Howard, too, is from Atlanta -- someone in his position might decide it's best to parlay assets into players now.

Among the teams that would appeal to Smith are Dallas, Houston and Memphis, a league source told CBSSports.com. The Grizzlies, in the midst of establishing the value of Rudy Gay on the trade market in the face of massive luxury tax bills on the horizon, are not among the teams that have spoken with the Hawks about Smith, one of the sources said. Despite owner Mark Cuban's comment this week that "the bank of Cuban is open," the Mavs also have not yet expressed interest in trading for Smith, another source said.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey said on Twitter this week that Houston would be "likely more stable than in the past" as the Feb. 21 trade deadline approaches.

The Hawks have more than enough cap room to re-sign Smith and add pieces around him. If they let him walk as a free agent, Atlanta would have a league-high $36 million in cap room. But what would they spend it on? Re-signing a 27-year-old borderline All-Star to a max deal might wind up being Ferry's best move, provided he can sell Smith on a vision for the future and how the team will use the remaining flexibility to get better.

"I want to be clear that I'm not pushing a trade," Prather said. "This is not a trade request or anything, but there are frustrations in Atlanta."

NBA News 2012: First Heat Win In Denver Since 2002

Yes, the mighty Heat won for the first time in Denver since January of 2002 behind LeBron James’ 27 points, seven rebounds, 12 assists, a steal and three blocks on 11-of-23 shooting.  If you’re lucky enough to own LeBron, chances are you’re winning your league.  Bron hurt his shoulder last night, but played through it and I’m not concerned.  The big news is that Dwyane Wade was out with his foot injury, which he aggravated in Wednesday’s disastrous performance and we basically saw this DNP coming from a mile away.  Wade’s current problems include the foot, a jammed thumb and the surgically-repaired knee he’s playing on.  The Heat are off until Saturday at Phoenix and Wade looks like a game-time decision for that one.  Mike Miller started in his place and had 12 points, five rebounds and four 3-pointers in 24 minutes.  He might be worth a deep-league add if you’re desperate for 3-pointers, but I think I’d rather own Atlanta’s Kyle Korver in that instance.

NBA News 2012: Rajon Rondo ejected for bumping referee

For a second, the Boston Celtics looked capable of orchestrating a masterful comeback from a 17-point deficit in their Game 1 matchup against the Hawks in Atlanta. Then, with 41 seconds left in the fourth quarter and down just four points, everything went terribly wrong.

As the shot clock wound down for the Hawks, Kevin Garnett knocked the ball away from Joe Johnson to start a scrum on the floor. Brandon Bass eventually fouled Josh Smith — a controversial call given the mess on the ground — which ticked off star Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. Rondo screamed in the face of official Marc Davis, who gave him a reasonable technical foul. It didn't stop there, though, as Rondo kept walking towards Davis and bumped him in the back with his chest. That earned Rondo a second technical, an automatic ejection, and possibly a coming suspension for contact with an official.

NBA News 2012: Hawks' Horford ruled out for first round of playoffs

Al Horford had hoped to give the Atlanta Hawks a boost in the playoffs.

Now he knows that won't be possible, at least not in the opening round.

The All-Star center said Wednesday he's definitely out for the best-of-seven series against Boston, which begins this weekend. The Hawks will get home-court if they win their regular-season finale against Dallas, or if the Celtics lose their last game to Milwaukee.

"You obviously want to be there for your team and try to help them," Horford said after taking some shots on his own at the Philips Arena practice court. "But I realized I'm not nearly where I need to be or want to be to give the team anything."

Horford, one of Atlanta's key players along with Joe Johnson and Josh Smith, has missed most of the season recovering from surgery to repair a torn left pectoral muscle. The team has persevered without him, going into its final game clinging to the fourth-best record in the East.

All along, though, the Hawks held out hope that Horford might be healthy enough to give the team a boost in the playoffs. He was especially eager to return after his replacement, Zaza Pachulia, went down a couple of weeks ago with a sprained left foot, casting doubt on whether he'll be able to go in the playoffs.

NBA News 2012: Lin-sanity has given way to Melo Mania for playoff hungry NY Knicks fans

NEW YORK, NY - FEBRUARY 29: (R) Carmelo Anthon...NEW YORK, NY - FEBRUARY 29: (R) Carmelo Anthony #7 of the New York Knicks and (L) Jeremy Lin #17 of the New York Knicks during the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden on February 29, 2012 in New York City. (Image credit: Getty Images via @daylife)The New York Knicks squeaked by with a 113-112 win in Atlanta this afternoon over the Hawks. On the final play of the game, the Hawks’ Marvin Williams missed a dunk that would not have counted as time ran out before the ball left his hands, while being harassed in the air by the Knicks tandem of Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire. Melo had 39 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a hotly contested game between two teams that have already clinched playoff spots. The Hawks shot 15-23 from 3-point range to keep the game close throughout, with Williams finishing with 29 points and 11 rebounds.

In his second game back in action, missing 13 games over the last month after suffering a bulging disc back injury, Stoudemire had 22 points and 12 rebounds. Landry Fields showed up big for the Knicks which they’ll need in the playoffs, shooting well and scoring 18 points. Lack of a second consistent scorer probably cost the Knicks a win a week ago against their likely opponent in the playoffs’ first round, the Miami Heat. Anthony had 43 points against Miami, but with the game on the line the Heat’s three star players, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh overcame a Knick 4-point lead early in the fourth quarter to regain and maintain the edge the rest of the way. Atlanta occupies the 5th seed and is likely to play the Boston Celtics in the opening round.

There has been no mention thus far as to whether Jeremy Lin will be able to return for the playoffs, although he reportedly had stitches removed from knee surgery early last week. With no Lin or Stoudemire, Anthony has virtually carried the team to playoff eligibility by finally playing in New York like a superstar, with an all-around floor game, especially over the past three weeks. However, there is a glaring need for consistent point guard play if New York is going to be a force in playoff competition. Ironically, that has been their Achilles heel all year, except for the brief period that “Lin-sanity” reigned over the metropolitan area. Their opponents obviously knew that and started to play rough against Lin, whenever he came inside, penetrating the paint whether attempting to score or pass.

WNBA 2010: Bird hits another game winner for Storm

Sunday, September 21st 2008.Image via Wikipedia
SEATTLE -- She really doesn't go back and watch them all. Continued success requires living in the present and looking to the future.

But someday, Seattle guard Sue Bird might take some time to review all the moments when she has been the difference in the clutch. And that will probably take awhile, because there are a lot of them.

Sunday in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals, Bird did it again. Her 18-foot jumper with 2.6 seconds left was the decisive basket for the Storm in a 79-77 victory in front of 15,084 at KeyArena.

Sue Bird had 14 points, eight assists and five rebounds -- and one game-winning shot.

"It was a very tough game, and it came down to the end," Bird said. "I don't think we played our best, but we still got the win. This is the Finals; it's never going to be easy."

But once again, it was Bird who had the last word. How many times have we said that?

As Atlanta coach Marynell Meadors put it, "If you give Sue Bird an open look with the game on the line, nine times out of 10 she's going to make it."

Indeed, Bird has become accustomed to sinking such shots and then answering the ensuing questions about why she's so good in these situations.

For Bird, she might as well be explaining why she's 5 feet, 9 inches. She's that way because … she's that way.

WNBA 2010: Storm clinches Western Conference title with game-ending 15-0 run

Sunday, September 21st 2008.Image via Wikipedia
PHOENIX -- Sue Bird wanted no part of a deciding game with a spot in the WNBA finals on the line.

Thanks to her clutch shooting, the Seattle Storm won't have to worry about that risky proposition.

Bird made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 2.8 seconds left Sunday and the Storm closed out the Western Conference finals with a 91-88 victory over the defending champion Phoenix Mercury, closing the game with a 15-0 run.

"I know I didn't want to play Phoenix in Game 3, that would have been very, very hard, even on our home court, it would have been very difficult," Bird said.

"So the best part about that shot, the best part about winning this game, is the series is over and we have a week to prepare, and to rest."

Diana Taurasi, who finished with 28 points, missed a contested 3-pointer at the buzzer for Phoenix.

The Storm earned their seventh consecutive win and advanced to the finals for the first time since they won it all in 2004. They will meet the winner of the Eastern Conference finals between New York and Atlanta, which won 81-75 in Game 1 on Sunday night.
