If you’re looking for a great series, a great matchup and a renewed rivalry then the Lakers vs Celtics NBA Finals 2010 is what you’re looking for. The Celtics managed to take game 5 from the Lakers and take a 3-2 lead.It was definitely a hard fought battle from both teams but the Celtics came out on top 92-86 to take a 3-2 lead heading back to Los Angeles. The Celtics starting five really stepped it up in this game and Paul Pierce was on fire leading his team with 27 points. Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo both added 18 points and Ray Allen added 12.
The Celtics just couldn’t stop Kobe Bryant when he scored a game high 38 (19 of those points came in the third quarter) but they managed to stop just about everyone else on the team. Besides Pau Gasol scoring 12, no other Laker scored in double figures. Overall, the Celtics defense held the Lakers to a 39% field goal shooting compared to the Celtics 56%.
The Celtics took the lead as much as 13 late in the game but they simply couldn’t stop Kobe.
