LOS ANGELES — The relationship between Los Angeles Lakers point guards Derek Fisher and Steve Blake isn't centered around competition.

They see it as cooperation.

"Our goal is to push each other. We're in the leadership position," says Fisher, the starter who was backed up by Jordan Farmar the last four seasons until he left as a free agent and Blake came aboard. "That's what Steve is focused on and that's what I'm focused on — making sure our entire team is playing a certain way."

In his 15th season, the 6-1 Fisher has had his doubters despite his penchant for hitting clutch shots and his five NBA championship rings.

Blake, in his eighth season, is two inches taller and six years younger at 30. His presence has resulted in Fisher getting fewer minutes with the Lakers off to a 3-0 start entering today's home game against the Memphis Grizzlies (2-1).
